What is Microneedling?

How Does Microneedling Work?

Microneedling creates thousands of microchannels that stimulate your body’s natural wound-healing process while minimizing cellular damage. This rejuvenates your skin from the inside out. The result is the effective remodelling of scar tissue while keeping the overall structure of the skin intact.

There are three phases to the wound repair process:

Phase I: Inflammation. Piercing the skin triggers your immune system to cleanse the wound, remove debris, increase blood flow and begin to create new tissue.
Phase II: Proliferation. The wound is rebuilt with new granulation cells, which are part of the extracellular matrix. Additionally, a new network of blood vessels develops.
Phase III: Remodeling. The wound is replaced with new dermal tissues and blood vessels.

How It Works

Treatment and Recovery

During your appointment, you may experience a warm, scratching feeling as the tool is moved around the face. Some more bony areas of the face may feel more discomfort than fuller areas. These treatments are easy and painless. The treatment will take between 45 – 60 minutes, and requires topical anesthetic. Most patients experience signs of improvement to the skin roughly one week after the Microneedling Treatment.

3-6 Microneedling Treatments are recommended to start, spacing them out by 1 month after one another. After that, monthly appointments are recommended to maintain the results.

Your practitioner will recommend the best after-care and products to use on your skin at the end of your appointment.
